Daniela Gutmann has been selected as the 2026 Styria-Artists-in-Residence for Prishtina. Each year, Shtatëmbëdhjetë and the Regional Government of Styria exchange one artist between Kosovo and Graz. Daniela will be staying in Prishtina during March-April 2026.
Daniela Gutmann’s work encompasses various forms of experimental film, performance and installation. Currently she is researching on queer and feminist perspectives and the queer gaze in film and text. She is particularly interested in the tension between physical conditions, sensory perception, and moments of alienation. Her work focuses on exploring, expanding, and transcending existing boundaries – whether spatial, physical, or conceptual. In 2025, Daniela Gutmann completed her master’s degree in fine arts (Sculptural Conceptions) at the University of Art and Design Linz, as well as the Friedl Kubelka School for Independent Film in Vienna. She studied Intermedia and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland (2020). From 2022 to 2023, she deepened her body-based research as a guest student at the Institute of Dance Arts at the Bruckner University Linz. In 2018 she participated in the SNDO (School for New Dance Development) Intensive Course at the Amsterdamse Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten, NL.
Her work was last seen in the Filmmuseum Vienna, OÖ Kunstverein, bb15 – space for contemporary art, EFES42 and Belvedere21 (Blickle Kino). Her films have been shown at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), IndieLisboa in Lisbon, the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), and the Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest in London, among others. In addition to her artistic practice, Gutmann has been involved in organisational and curatorial work since 2023: Together with Theresa Muhl, she forms the team behind Loose Ends, a platform for exchange, experimentation and process in the field of performance art, anchored in the art and culture association Initiative Raumschiff, Linz. Since 2025 she is part of bb15 – space for contemporary art, an independent artist-run space and curatorial collective.
