SIPARANTUM CHOIR

Through the voice of Siparantum Choir, the spaces, stories, and memories of Prishtina are transformed into a musical experience that connects the past with the present, and the present with the future. The performance, as part of the site-specific artistic intervention begins at Kacallart, one of the old quarters of Prishtina, moving through its narrow streets, red-brick houses, the bakery, Rilindja, and the spaces where everyday life once unfolded. These places are not approached merely as buildings or locations, but as carriers of human memory. In people’s recollections, they are places of play, work, family, voices, the smell of bread, and neighbourhood life.
Through the selected repertoire, the choir moves through different emotional and artistic states: from energy and collective movement to fire, prayer, loss, dreams, identity, love, and hope. The performance opens with the PREMIERE of Gjurmë, composed by Memli Kelmendi specifically for this event, marking the starting point of the narrative. Through the carefully selected repertoire that follows, a musical story unfolds, moving from one memory to another and from one state to the next, tracing the paths of people, spaces, and memories that have remained within the city. Words drawn from the interviews become part of the identity of this narrative: Kacallarët, Sokaku, Shpija me tulla të kuqe, Rilindja, Furra, Shtëpia e fantazmave, Jetimi, Qielli është limiti.
Within this concept, Siparantum Choir is not merely a performer of music. The choir becomes the voice of a collective memory. The voices of the choristers temporarily reconstruct and bring back to life spaces that no longer exist in the same form.
