We are pleased to announce that the new visual artist from Prishtina, Renea Begolli, will be part of the Matanë art residency and will stay in Shkodra for three weeks.
Renea Begolli (1998) is a visual artist based in Prishtina, Kosovo. In 2021, she graduated Painting (Bachelor), at the Faculty of Arts, University of Prishtina. In the same year, she attended Bournemouth University, in BA (Hons) Sociology and Social Anthropology as a one-semester exchange student with Erasmus+ scholarship. Her works were exhibited in several collective exhibitions like: “C19 A20” by Oral History Kosovo Initiative, curated by Erëmirë Krasniqi (2021; online exhibition), “New Year, New Artists, New Hopes” at the “Europe House” (2021; online exhibition), “Additions” Exhibition (2020; Prishtina, Mitrovica) curated by Blerta Hoçia, organized by Foundation Shtatëmbëdhjetë, “Green Line” at the “Qahili Gallery” (2020; Prishtina), “Ujedinjene Boje Divanhane” (2019/20; Zlatibor and Novi Pazar, Serbia), “Unification” at “House of Europe” (2019; Prishtina), and others, then in the solo show at the Institute “Yunus Emre” in Pristina in 2014. Her ideas are mostly expressed through paintings, drawings, installations, and video art inspired by personal and collective memory of various social topics, especially on the isolation and the lack of freedom of movement in mental and physical space in Kosovo. Over the years she participated in different multidisciplinary projects and workshops, as well as worked as a camera operator and video editor, first in Kosovalive (2017-2020), then in Oral History Kosovo Initiative (2020-2021).
Matanë supports the relationship between art and research by giving space and time to artists of every discipline to work on a new project with access to various resources in Prishtina and Shkodra.
